An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

COOLING DOWN A BIT: Temperatures around this part of Alabama at 3:00 range from 82 at Gadsden to 86 at Muscle Shoals… well above our average high of 74 for April 16, and not far from record levels. But, cooler air will filter into the state over the weekend.

Not much change in our overall thinking for the weekend; the front tomorrow should come through in generally dry fashion. Any showers on the front should be few and far between, and most Alabama communities will stay dry. The sky will be partly sunny tomorrow with temperatures peaking in the upper 70s, followed by a mostly sunny Sunday with a high in the low 70s. Note that mornings will be much cooler with lows in the mid 40s both Sunday and Monday.

NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS wants to bring some rain into Alabama Monday… I must admit that vorticity maximum over Texas looks pretty impressive, and this morning’s run identifies the system nicely, and there could very well be some credibility to that idea. So, I think we do need to consider inserting some risk of rain into the forecast for Monday and Monday night. It won’t be much, but just be aware that the chance is there. The latter half of the week continues to look dry with highs in the 77 to 81 degree range.

LONG RANGE: The 12Z GFS continues the idea of the next major rain event here over the weekend of April 24-25… see the Weather Xtreme video for details.
