No, not in Alabama. Our turn comes Saturday.
However the developing severe weather over the Western Plains is part of the overall game plan.
22 tornadoes reported since late afternoon mainly over Extreme East and SE Colorado, Extreme West Kansas. (Some of those may have been counted more than once)
Intense thunderstorms were roaming the Plains tonight from West Central Texas north through the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle into West Kansas and Extreme East Colorado. Lots of fireworks (lightning) Remember, “Lightening is frightening”
One of the tornadoes at 3:40 this afternoon seven miles ESE of Kendall Kansas was one mile wide. (Thats a biggie!) Other tornadoes were described as looking like a stove pipe and some were rain-wrapped “wedge” tornadoes.
Tornado Watches continue for the Texas-Oklahoma Panhandle into West Kansas and Eastern Colorado. Part of that area is under a “moderate risk” of severe weather.
Tomorrow (Friday) a slight risk is in effect from Mississippi, Louisiana and East Texas northward all the way Iowa and Nebraska. Within that large area is a “moderate risk” for part of North Louisiana and South Arkansas including Shreveport, Monroe and Little Rock.
Next day, Saturday, all of Alabama and adjacent states have a slight risk. Would not be the least bit surprised to see parts of Alabama upgraded to a moderate risk, The SPC does not post moderate and high risks that far ahead.
NWS folks are very busy out on the plains tonight.Would you believe since late this afternoon and early this evening, 41 Tornado Warnings were issued and a goodly number of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings?
Have not heard of major damage this evening.
