Anniston set a record rainfall today and may have set a record cool maximum temperature as well…the high from the was 76, which is far lower than what I think is the previous record of 82F, set in 1969.
Here is the rainfall record…
RECORD EVENT REPORT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL
0429 PM CDT SUN AUG 03 2025
…RECORD DAILY MAXIMUM RAINFALL SET AT ANNISTON…
A RECORD RAINFALL OF 3.04 INCHES WAS SET AT ANNISTON TODAY.
THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 1.48 INCHES SET IN 1966.
The easterly wedge is clearly apparently over eastern sections of the state. You can clearly notice the breeze in areas east of I-65.
Tomorrow will feature a pronounced wedge as well so temperatures will be cool again in areas east of I-65 and north of I-85.
