No storms over the north half of Alabama late this afternoon.

Widely scattered ones over the south part of the state.

The better ones at 4:30 pm were over the south central and southwest counties. Most of the lightning was south of Montgomery to the Florida border.

Movement is erratic. On radar, they look almost like they were dancing around and headed in no particular direction.

The storms will surrender soon after sunset.

One of the hottest temperatures from regular hourly reporting stations at 4 pm was 101 in Tuscaloosa and Montgomery. We will probably post a long list of today’s highs after about 8 this evening from all available sources since this is generally our hottest day of 2007 so far.
