SEVERE CLEAR: Not a cloud in the sky across Alabama this afternoon… temperatures range from the mid 70s over the northern half of the state to the mid 80s across Mobile and Baldwin counties. Tonight will be clear and cool… a number of North Alabama communities will drop into the mid to upper 40s early tomorrow morning. Maybe for the last time until the fall.

The dry pattern will stay in place across Alabama through the weekend. Highs return to the 80s tomorrow and Saturday, and some spots across South Alabama could touch the 90 degree mark by Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: The weather will feel more like summer for the first half of the week. Humidity levels rise, highs will be in the 87-92 degree range, and showers will remain very hard to find. The upper ridge will weaken a bit by Thursday and Friday; this will open the door for at least some chance of scattered showers or thunderstorms, mainly over the northern half of Alabama. See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1923: Farms were swept away by what was probably an F5 tornado south of Lubbock, TX. A man and his three sons were among the 23 fatalities. The damage path was up to a mile and a half wide.

Look for the next video briefing here by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow…
