DRY: It sure looks like Alabama will stay dry this week, and through the end of October. Not that unusual since October is typically the driest month of the year. Expect highs in the low to mid 70s today, and then in the 75-80 degree range tomorrow through Friday. Mornings will stay cool with lows in the upper 40s and low 50s.
The weekend will feature sun filled days with highs mostly in the 70s, and next week afternoon temperatures will be close to 80 degrees. Looks like we will have to wait until early November before rain returns… See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS: A storm-force non-tropical low pressure area is located along a frontal boundary a few hundred miles off the middle Atlantic coast. This low is likely to move slowly and erratically over the next couple of days, and it could gradually acquire subtropical characteristics if it remains over the Gulf Stream. A subtropical cyclone could form during the middle to latter portions of the week when the system begins to move northeastward away from the eastern United States.
Environmental conditions are expected to become unfavorable for development by the weekend. Regardless of the system’s status, high winds, coastal flooding, and dangerous surf are expected along portions of the U.S. East Coast during the next few days. Chance of tropical development is 40 percent.
No tropical storms are expected near the Gulf for at least the next 7-10 days.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Auburn hosts LSU Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium (11:00a CT kickoff)… the sky will be sunny with temperatures rising from near 73 at kickoff to around 76 degrees by the final whistle.
Alabama will host Texas A&M Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff)… a sunny sky over Tuscaloosa with temperatures in the mid 70s for the first half, falling into the upper 60s by the end of the game.
ON THIS DATE IN 1996: The opening game of World Series between the Braves and Yankees in New York was postponed by heavy rains and high wind from a major storm system affecting the East Coast, marking the third time in history that the World Series opener had been postponed. Overall, nine of the 22 games that have been canceled in Series history were scheduled in New York or Brooklyn.
