* NWS continues a Flash Flood Warning for Jefferson and most surrounding counties until 1:45 p.m. It includes parts of Bibb, Shelby, Tuscaloosa Counties. This also means that Tuscaloosa, Northport and Holt are under the Warning where there was significant flash flooding yesterday.

* A 10:20 a.m. radar check shows that the most intense rain is now occurring along the Jefferson/Shelby County line through West Jefferson County and over the north half of Tuscaloosa County. The downpour has almost reached the Tuscaloosa/Northport area.

* North of Birmingham, the rain has diminished somewhat over North Jefferson County and most of Walker County.

* Lightning is very intense and frequent and very dangerous.

* It is very dark now in the Trussville area along with sharp lightning, loud thunder and very heavy rain.

* The risk of flash flooding is often unestimated. It is extremely important that you not drive into a water-covered road that is flooded several inches deep and especially if the water is flowing rapidly. I like the NWS slogan, “Turn around; don’t drown.”
