Several strong thunderstorms moved down into NE Alabama this afternoon from extreme NW Georgia and SE Tennessee. At 3:45, the three main storms were over Southern Jackson County, SW DeKalb Conty SW of Ft. Payne and also over East Etowah County, mainly east of Gadsden. All three storms have weakened a bit in the last 20 minutes or so.

Earlier near Holly Pond in Jackson County, the public reported hail 3/4 inch in diameter (about penny size). It was recorded at a Holly Pond grocery store.

If these storms continue their movement toward the SW, some of them will affect Calhoun and St. Clair Counties later.
