There is an old saying that all is not fair in love, rain distribution and droughts (or is that a new saying that I just made up. I can’t remember).

Anyway, this will be a short weather by the numbers due to heavy tropical traffic.

* 21.76 inches is the incredible amount of rain that Oklahoma City has received in just a little over six weeks.

* 43.54 inches is how much they have received this year.

* 20.42 inches is the rain surplus for Oklahoma City this year.

* 23.81 inches is the rain deficit for Anniston and East Alabama. (Quite a contrast.)

* 12.38 inches is the Anniston rain total for 2007 so far.

* 20.71 inches is the Birmimgham deficit for the year. We will be over 21 inches short very soon.

* 46.42 inches is how much rain Houston has received this year, which is three times more than Birmingham. The normal annual rainfall for Houston is 47.84 inches as compared to 54 inches for Birmingham.

* 24 inches is how much rain San Antonio has received in a little over six weeks, bringing their total for the year to 43.63 inches–an excess of 23.19.

This has been a year with a big overdose of rain for Texas, Oklahoma and other places in the Midwest while one of the worst droughts on record continued in the Southeast.

* 98% is how much of Alabama had very short or short topsoil moisture as of today. The new report was issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Alabama Field Office in Montgomery, this afternoon.

* 42% of the pasture and rangeland was in very poor condition. An additional 35% was poor.

We will do a more complete report on this tomorrow.
