NWS continues a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for SW Jefferson County until 4:30. The thunderstorm is a slow mover and it is dumping extremely heavy rain over much of West Jefferson County.
This storm is also capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds over 60 mph. Some of the communities to be affected:
Hueytown
Fairfield
Bessemer
Sylvan Springs
Maytown
Mulga
Minor
Brighton
Some extremely heavy rain is approaching the western sections of Birmingham.
This thunderstorm is part of a line that extends south westward near Tuscaloosa and down into Hale and Greene Counties. It is pouring rain over North and West Hale County and Eastern Greene County in places like Moundville, Havana Junction, Akron, and Eutaw.
Dangerous lightning is also involved. Take care.
