A warm, moist airmass covers Alabama this morning. Showers are starting to form east of a line from Gardendale to Altoona to Piedmont to Dadeville.

Others are forming over Southwest Alabama.

Showers are also over eastern Mississippi.

Everything is moving northeast.

Showers and storms will continue to form through the day and coverage will be fairly widespread. Some of the storms will be heavy, with heavy rain, lots of lightning and scattered reports of wind damage.

Be alert for threatening skies and don’t be that guy who doesn’t take them seriously. If you see dark clouds or hear thunder, head into a substantial shelter, such as a house or building until the storm passes.
