This may sound strange, but we have a Flash Flood Warning for Winston County in NW Alabama until 7:30 tonight.
Yep, right in the middle of a historic drought.
The Warning is actually for the NW part of Winston County. Doppler radar indicated that flash flooding may be underway because of a thunderstorm near Haleyville. The storm should remain mainly over rural areas of Winston County. Of particular concern, is the Highway 13 underpass at Sandy Lane and Highway 13 at 6th Avenue. This is in Haleyville.
Meanwhile, NWS/Huntsville has posted a Significant Weather Alert for Madison County until 6:00 p.m. The NWS/Birmingham has a Significant Weather Alert for Fayette and Lamar Counties until 6:15.
In West Alabama, the strongest thunderstorms continue over extreme SW Hale County southwest of Greensboro. Those were moving into North Marengo County toward Demopolis and Linden.
