The heat just rolls along while the hope for some relief in Bonnie is waning as Bonnie remains a depression and quite possibly may not regain tropical storm status.
Another hot day across Central Alabama – but maybe our last 100 day for a few days – as clouds become more prevalent with Bonnie in the neighborhood. And even though Central Alabama remains on the east side of the storm track for Bonnie, it appears right now that precipitation will be limited.
Bonnie – or an open trough – is expected to make landfall in Southeast Louisiana early Sunday morning as it advances northwestward around the upper ridge over the Southeast US.
The broken record of the upper ridge stays with us for the upcoming week with highs still in the mid and upper 90s. The good news is that there are signs that the upper ridge might move westward in the long term giving us some relief from the heat. However expect the upcoming week to remain hot and humid with daily shower possibilities.
QPF suggests 1 to 3 inches along the track of Bonnie and that may be overdone somewhat. I also think the rainfall amounts shown on the QPF chart for the Southeast US are way over done since we can only expect isolated to scattered showers for the next five days.
SPC has outlooked a large area from eastern Kansas to New England for possible severe weather for today. I can’t help but be amazed at how that pattern has lasted so long this summer as the Central and northern US continue to get storms and rain.
