Even past the witching hour.

Big area of rain and thunderstorms srinking just before 1 am. But there is still quite a bit of thunder bouncing off the hillsides.

The heavist rain was over North Bibb and the west half of Shelby County.

But moderate to heavy rain continues along the Tuscaloosa-Jefferson County line approaching Hueytown-Bessemer.

The rain area over Cullman County a lot lighter and fading away.

New thunderstorm has developed over East Mississippi NW of Columbus. However, not too concerned about that one.

Everything still moving almost due east.

Will try to obtain some 6 hour rain amounts from Tuscaloosa/Birmingham/Shelby County Airports in a few minutes. They report 6-hour amounts at 1 am.

EDITORIAL
Excuse this little personal opinion, but we should be dancing in the streets. This rain for the last several days (and especially tonight’s steady soaker) is exactly what we needed. Nowhere near enough, of course to eliminate a drought. I wish more of this heavier rain tonight could have been across the upper watershed of the Little Cahaba River which feeds lake Purdy.
