Still pouring rain over parts of Central Alabama early on this Thursday morning, when we all should be asleep.
At 1:30 a.m., the heaviest rain was over South Shelby County and SW Jefferson County. The heaviest of all (and it is really pouring) was over extreme SE Shelby County in the Columbiana/Shelby/Wilsonville area. That heavy rain will be moving into South Talladega and NW Coosa County shortly.
In Jefferson County, the heaviest rain was in places like Bessemer, Hueytown, Adger and Oak Grove.
Still quite a bit of lightning. Overall the storms are slowly decreasing, but there is still some rain even as far north as Cullman and Blount Counties and eastward to Talladega, Anniston and Heflin.
That new thunderstorm that developed over East Mississippi has grown stronger. It will be passing just north of Columbus and moving into West Alabama’s Lamar County. It will probably affect the south part of Lamar County between Vernon and Millport.
Here are some rain amounts for the last six hours (between 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. at these official stations).
0.33 Shelby County Airport
0.51 Birmingham Airport
0.13 Tuscaloosa Airport
0.23 Anniston Airport
0.07 Gadsden Airport
Sure do appreciate all of the incoming reports tonight. They help more than you know.
