Late this afternoon, thunderstorms were widely separated over the north half of the state.
By far, the stronger and more numerous storms were over the south hflf of the state.
In the Greater Birmingham area there were a few in progress. At 5:15 they were near Gardendale southwestward just west of Birmingham. Moving SW.
