MILD DAYS, COOL NIGHTS: Dry air will cover Alabama through Saturday. Afternoon highs will be in the 77 to 81 degree range, with morning lows in the 40s tomorrow, with low to mid 50s early Friday and Saturday. Yet another rain-free weekend for high school and college football games.
SUNDAY: Moisture will begin to return Sunday, and we will mention a chance of scattered showers by afternoon into Sunday. But, the most widespread rain Sunday will remain to the west.
BENEFICIAL RAIN NEXT WEEK: The global models continue to agree on a substantial rain event for Alabama and the Deep South early next week. Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the 12Z GFS is showing a potentially active day Monday with periods of rain along with a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms. The lead short wave moves to the east, but a moist airmass stays in place with some risk of widely scattered showers Tuesday and Wednesday. Then, another strong upper trough pushes a cold front through Thursday with another round of rain and storms, followed by sharply colder air on Friday.
LAND OF VOODOO: The GFS continues to paint a very active pattern into early November, with potential for strong to severe storms and heavy around in the November 2-3 time frame. Again, see the Weather Xtreme video for details.
