DRY THROUGH SATURDAY: Don’t look for much change in our weather through Saturday… mostly sunny, warm days and clear cool nights. Highs will stay close to 80, with a low in the 40s tomorrow morning, followed by low to mid 50s early Saturday.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Another rain-free forecast. For the high school games tonight and tomorrow night, the sky will be clear, with temperatures falling from the mid 70s at kickoff into the low 60s by the fourth quarter.

Auburn hosts LSU in a huge SEC battle Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium (2:30 p.m. kickoff)… the sky will be partly sunny with a kickoff temperature near 80 degrees, falling into the low 70s by the final whistle. Alabama heads to Knoxville to play the Tennessee Volunteers (6:00 p.m. kickoff); expect a fair sky with temperatures around 70 at kickoff, falling to the upper 50s by the fourth quarter. The UAB Blazers are also on the road; they will be in Starkville, Mississippi visiting the Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday evening at 6:00. The sky should be mostly fair, with temperatures falling from the low 80s at kickoff to near 70 by the end of the game.

SUNDAY/MONDAY: A strong short wave over Texas will finally bring a chance of beneficial rain to Alabama. We will mention the chance of a shower Sunday afternoon, with showers and storms more likely late Sunday night into Monday. We are still projecting rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch, with some spots possibly getting more. We also note a few strong storms are possible with some surface based instability, but it does not looks like a major severe weather setup for now.

REST OF NEXT WEEK: A surface front will stall just north of Alabama, and we stay in moist air Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of scattered showers both days. Then, another sharp upper trough will bring another good round of showers and strong storms to the state Thursday, with potential for over one inch of rain. The good news is that much of Alabama has a decent chance of getting two inches of rain or more in the Monday through Thursday time frame. Then, much cooler and drier air rolls into Alabama by Friday and Halloween weekend. We just might have frost on those Halloween pumpkins this year.

TROPICAL STORM RICHARD: An interesting system in the Caribbean. Little movement is expected during the next 48 hours, but the system is expected to move into the Yucatan Peninsula late in the weekend. The remnant circulation will emerge into the southern Gulf of Mexico early next week, and it will have the potential to grow stronger again, with a general motion by then to the northeast, meaning this one could impact the Florida peninsula (not the Central Gulf Coast). Lots of uncertainty due to the potential interaction with the troughs passing through the eastern half of the nation early next week, and then again later in the week. See the Weather Xtreme video for complete details and graphics.
