Significant weather alerts in effect for Cherokee, Calhoun, Montgomery, and Elmore Counties. Wind shear and instability appear to be shifting focus to eastern half of the state. Strongest storms are in a line from near Weiss Lake to Sylacauga, then just south of MGM. Storms will heavy rain still over much of southern Jefferson and Shelby counties, also.

But, the rain is starting to end from NW to SE across the state, as the cold front approaches and the tropical system disintegrates.

Still, there is the threat for an isolated tornado this afternoon SE of I-59.

Cold front is near Cape Girardeau, MO. Temps drop about 15 degrees within 100 miles behind the front. The front will come through overnight, leaving great weather, but a little windy, on Saturday for BHM and TCL, only a 10% chance of a shower in AUB. By Sunday morning, 50s widespread over north and central Alabama, somebody may hit 49.
