The latest edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme Video is available in the player below and on iTunes.

Central Alabama is waking up to another gray day as stratus clouds cover a fairly good chunk of the area. The Tennessee Valley was the only spot in North and Central Alabama where the skies remained clear. I think the clouds will burn off by 10 am or so allowing yet another warm day – perhaps some would describe as hot – for our first day of Fall. With dew points running in the lower 70s through Central Alabama, we can expect to see isolated showers but most folks will remain dry.

As we head into the upcoming week, the warmth will continue with the possibility of isolated showers Monday. As much of the moisture is pushed off to our west, I think Tuesday and Wednesday will be shower free.

Thursday begins to mark the possibility of some change. A weak front is progged to come down into the area of the Tennessee/Alabama line and the latest GFS run suggests that it may push on to the Gulf. It won’t be particularly strong so while rain chances will go up for Thursday and Friday, they still won’t be spectacular. By Saturday there is a promise of slightly cooler and drier air for a very pleasant Fall day in Central Alabama.

The tropics have become more active. Scroll down for a post from Bill Murray on the latest developments. We’ll be watching the one over the Yucatan Peninsula, but the forecasts still suggest the Texas Coast.

Trolling into voodoo land, the GFS has completely down away with the deep trough that I noted yesterday. Is anyone surprised? That pattern just seemed a bit too intense. Now the suggestion is a rather benign pattern with the strong westerlies staying along the northern tier of the United States.

James will be back tomorrow morning with the next Weather Xtreme Video. I’ll be filling in for Ashley Brand tonight so be sure to catch ABC 3340 at 5 and 10 pm. Have a great Sunday and God bless.
