A wide band of showers persists across part of Alabama late this morning.
At 10:20 a.m., the showers extended generally from Cullman County southwestward across Walker, West Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Hale, North Perry, Greene and Sumter Counties.
The showers were moderate to heavy in these two areas:
…..Along the Walker/Jefferson County line. These showers were moving in the general direction of Gardendale, Fultondale and Birmingham.
…..Over Sumter, South Greene and Hale Counties in West/Central Alabama, especially from Livingston NE to south of Eutaw and over to near Moundville and Greensboro.
Everything moving toward the SE.
We have a report from Chief Vaughan from the Cuba Fire Department SW of York in Sumter County and very close to the Mississippi border. He reports 0.42 of rain fairly quickly as of 10:17 a.m.
Radar estimates indicate that over 1 inch of rain has fallen over part of South Pickens and a good part of North Sumter County. Some places may have even received 1.50.
