Someone asked why Birmingham and Jefferson County aren’t in the Ice Storm Warning.
Really, they are equivalent in seriousness.
The ice storm warning focuses on one phenomenon – icing.
The winter storm warning covers multiple phenomena – snow and icing.
The winter storm warning indicates that there still will be significant snow accumulations in that warned area. This should not downplay the threat of icing in the winter storm warning area.
This is a very dangerous winter storm situation. we are still just early in the second quarter of the game.
Someone asked why I said we were nearly out the first quarter earlier when it had not even started in Birmingham. Remember we cover all of Central Alabama from Sumter, Pickens, Lamar and Marion Counties on the west east to the Georgia border.
