Still not a great number of showers over the east half of Alabama. Early this afternoon there were scattered ones from Tallapoosa County northward to Etowah County. Showers were a bit more numerous over on the west side of the state from Pickens County north into the NW corner of the state. The more numerous ones were over Franklin, Colbert and Lauderdale Counties. Moderate to heavy showers and some thunderstorms were over North Mississippi and some of those will reach NW Alabama. A moderate shower was also moving from Tannehill State Park toward Birmingham.
COASTAL SITUATION
By far, the more numerous and heavier showers were along the Alabama coast across to the Louisiana coast. Numerous showers were also inland over SE Mississippi. All of these were moving NE in the general direction of Alabama.
We will continue to watch and see if all that coastal activity will temporarily cut off moisture from our good friend, the Gulf of Mexico, from reaching places like Birmingham and places north. We don’t think so, except possibly temporarily.
Widespread heavy showers and some storms over West Arkansas down through Western Louisiana also spreading eastward.
