Precipitation has tapered over Central and North Alabama tonight and temperatures have warmed to just above freezing. They should rise to 35-46F in the I-20/59 corridor by sunrise. Icing left on bridges should continue to melt during the overnight hours.
Our concern now shifts to northwest Alabama where looking to the southwest, we see freezing rain at this hour over Central Louisiana that may work its way into Northwest Alabama during the early morning hours. At that time, temperatures may still be below freezing. This could cause additional icing
Elsewhere, the light rain will slowly edge back up into Central Alabama during the early morning hours, but it should be just that. Rain.
Jason will be in at 2:30 and Tim and JB will check on things during the overnight as well. James will have the morning extreme video and update by 6 a.m. or so.
