The back edge of the snow is moving quickly east now across West Alabama. The back edge extends from Cullman to Jasper to Eutaw at this hour, moving east at around 35 mph. It will be stopping in Tuscaloosa shortly and in Birmingham between 11 and 11:30.

Snow accumulations are highest over western sections of the state, especially northern Tuscaloosa into Lamar County. 4.7 inches is reported just west of Vernon in Lamar County.

The good news is that most roads are just wet across Central Alabama, but a recent report says that I-59 is partially snow covered between Tuscaloosa and Bessemer. . Temperatures are at freezing in the I-20 corridor, so keep in mind that icing could become a problem especially on bridges and overpasses through the overnight areas and on any roads that become snow covered.

Temperatures to the north are well below freezing. Road problems have been widespread across parts of the Tennessee Valley from Moulton to Huntsville into the Guntersville area.

Precipitation is increasing over Central Alabama from Dallas and Perry Counties up through Bibb and Chilton over into Coosa Counties. Moderate snow being reported in Marion in Perry County, sticking on cars. I know folks down there are excited. Temperatures across this area are 32F-33F. Some decent snow accumulations could occur here. Sleet may also be mixed in as well.
