Thanks to our Skywatcher in Coker, Ronald Hughes, for this shot of some icicles on a cold February morning. The biggest one measures about 18 inches!

The sun and warmer temperatures will ensure that those icicles are not long for this world! Highs today will be in the 40s with a full dose of Alabama sunshine!

Another pleasant fall day is on tap in Alabama as cool and dry conditions persist for another day. An upper-level ridge to our west and a building upper-level trough to our east will keep up in dry northerly flow with warming temperatures through the week. Continue reading

A strong, dry cold front pushed through Alabama yesterday, and much cooler drier air been filtering into the state throughout the night. This weekend will feature highs and lows quite seasonable for this time of year with elevated winds today. As we head into next week, an upper-level ridge from the west will cause temperatures to increase each day. Alabama will remain rain-free through the 7 day period. Continue reading
