Line of intense thunderstorms now over NW Alabama.

At 11 pm, the line extended from west of Athens southwestward to Russellville and across the Extreme NW corner of marion County. From there it extended SW to between Tupelo and Columbus in NE Mississippi.

The intensity has changed little during the last hour, some slight fluctuations. Only minor fluctuations in the lightning output.

NWS/Huntsville has issued a Significant Weather Alert for East Colbert County until 11:30. This is short of an actual warning. NWS/Birmingham posted a similar alert for Lamar and Marion County until 12:15 am. 33/40 skywatcher Jim Higgins reports vivid lightning in Hamilton.

There has been no formal warning in connection with this line of thunderstorms since 9:03 pm from New orleans.

WHERE IS THE COLD FRONT?
It is along the Florence-Muscle Shoals-Tupelo line. It may have slowed just a bit.

We will be up most of the night following this line of storms into Alabama. We also have a large group of 33/40 Skywatchers hanging in there with us. We appreciate that and will be posting their reports as received including rain amounts.
