While strong thunderstorms along with heavy rains are affecting northwest Alabama mainly west through north from Birmingham, Southwest Alabama is under the gun from what appear to be two supercell thunderstorms.

At 11:20 am, one supercell thunderstorm was located just south of Jackson in Clarke County and a second supercell was moving through Choctaw County just southwest of Butler. Both supercells were moving northeast around 45 mph.

Dew points across Central Alabama were near the 60 degree mark but trailed off to the mid 50s in eastern Alabama. Along the coast, Mobile was reporting a dew point of 67.

This continues to shape up as a very active day, so everyone needs to remain weather aware until late this evening.
