The Pacific Northwest has been pounded by a storm for the last several days that will be remembered forever. It is a bit quieter today but some reports indicate that Interstate 5 between Seattle and Portland will be under five feet of water today in places. Here are a few notes, just a sample of what went on:
* 12.58 inches of rain in two days at Bremerton, Washington (west of Seattle)
* 13.30 inches at Lee’s Camp, Oregon (Can you imagine what that would do for our Lake Purdy or thirsty Atlanta?)
* One mudslide 80 feet long by 6 feet deep knocked out power to thousands
* 40,000 customers with no power from the Central Oregon Coast to SW Washington. A major transmission line was repaired, only to be downed again by hurricane force winds
* All of North Bend and Ocean Park, Oregon, no power
* 114 mph gust at Cape Mears, Oregon
* 129 mph gust at Bay City, Oregon
* 99 mph gust, Mount Hood
Literally thousands and thousands of trees are down with numerous roads blocked. Also huge mudslides ruined a number of additional roads. Repair work will be long and hard. Numerous rivers out of their banks.
