A line of showers at 9:30 extended from Middle Tennessee down across NW Alabama into SW Mississippi. In Alabama they were mainly from west of Decatur to Hackleburg and Hamilton and to near Vernon. The showers were moving east.

Actually, the line of showers represent a cold front pushing into the NW part of the state. At mid morning, it was 68 in Birmingham, 70 in Tuscaloosa, but only 52 at Muscle Shoals Airport. Further NW it was a chilly 44 in Jackson, Tennessee, 47 in Memphis and near freezing in NW Arkansas.

Out ahead of that line of showers was another line that extended from NE Jefferson County to near Gadsden and along the DeKalb/Cherokee County line in extreme NE Alabama. In this shorter line, there were some moderate showers over NE Jefferson County and Western St. Clair County. It was raining in the Trussville area.
