The latest edition of the ABC 3340 Weather Xtreme Video is available in the player below and on iTunes.

It certainly is not something we’ve seen recently, but it looks like we may be headed for a – shhhhh, say it quietly so nature doesn’t hear – a rainy period. I would not want to jinx it, but it is looking favorable for some rain. And we could see three rounds of rain over the next five days. The first round is developing in Texas as I write this and should arrive overnight tonight.

But for the immediate morning, we are getting rid of the fog which has risen to a low cloud deck in some locations. Those clouds and fog should be burning off over the mid morning hours and we should see some sun. The sunshine will be somewhat short-lived as the next weather system in East Texas begins to get it’s act together and sends more clouds our way. Highs today should get into the middle 50s.

Tonight we see clouds and rain. I do not expect large amounts of rain – perhaps a quarter of an inch or so. Amounts may reach near a half of inch along the Mississippi-Alabama line. But the rain should be out of here Thursday morning and we will probably see some sun by the afternoon.

Clouds and rain return on Friday with the next system. Temperatures are expected to stay mild as we have no real air mass change. We dry out on Saturday but cloud up late with rain a possibility of Sunday. Over the next five days rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are likely to occur in a large swath from about Baton Rouge to Knoxville and that includes Central Alabama.

The pattern remains active as we head into next week when another shot of frigid air is forecast to make it south. Beyond that as we look into voodoo country, the active pattern promises to continue but at a bid slower pace than the next 5 to 7 days. That could mean some additional rain though none of the systems look especially favorable for large amounts.

Thanks for viewing the Blog. I should have the next Weather Xtreme Video posted by 9 or so tomorrow morning. And be sure to catch my forecast on Good Morning Alabama from 5 to 7 am. Have a great week and God bless.
