UPDATED AT 12:30 PM CST

Not quite as cold across Alabama this morning. As often happens, some stations did not have their low for the morning until after 6 am, so this update takes care of that. We also added some additional late reports from Skywatchers.

REGIONAL
8 this morning at Cleveland in North Georgia. Up to 2 inches of snow accumulated a couple of days ago at Blairsville in extreme North Georgia. It is located a little west of Brasstown Bald Mountain, the highest point in Georgia, at 4,784 feet.

The low this morning at Beech Mountain, North Carolina was zero with 2 inches of snow on the ground. It was 1 below zero atop Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. They still had 2 inches of snow on the ground yesterday morning, but this morning they recorded zero.

THE WESTERN SUPER STORM
It is a huge storm. It will be making headlines for several days. One of the worst storms I have ever seen in what seems like 100 years of weather work. These quick notes within the last few hours:

2.17 inches of rain already at Mt. Shasta
51 mph wind gust at San Francisco Airport
45 mph gust at Oakland with steady, heavy rain
59 mph gust and 37 degrees at Blue Canyon with 37 degrees

Parts of the Sierra-Nevada range may get over 100 inches of snow from this storm and wind gusts along the ridgetops separating California and Nevada may reach as high as 150 mph.
