This will probably be our last update on the active weather across Alabama tonight, unless something unusual happens.
The line of thunderstorms that moved into NW and West Alabama late this afternoon, progressed slowly southeastward. Late tonight, at 11:30 pm, there was no distinct line. Instead, it was a broad rain area from East Central and NE Alabama all the way down into SW Alabama.
The whole system was moving more slowly toward the east and southeast. A few pockets of heavy rain involved and still considerable lightning in a few areas. Some hint that the system was trying to slow down or stall.
More updates early in the morning and a roundup of rain amounts.
A LATE SPECIAL RAIN REPORT
Kirk Cahoon lives on Eastern Valley Road about 1.5 miles north of McAdory High School in SW Jefferson County. He reported 1.70 inches of rain tonight, the most he has seen in a long time.
