A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of Jackson and Marshall Counties until 2:30… the storms up in the Tennessee Valley are moving east at about 20 mph. A new storm has formed between Gadsden and Sand Rock on the Etowah/Cherokee County line.
The stronger storms up in the Tennessee Valley have been producing hail and gusty winds, but so far not much is happening south of U.S. 278 due to warm air aloft capping the atmosphere. However, with temperatures creeping upward at the surface, some storms could develop farther south as the afternoon goes on. A full Weather Xtreme video and discussion will be posted by 3:30 or so….
