It has taken a lot longer than expected for scattered, heavy storms to fire up, but they have been rumbling in northwest Alabama for about an ninety minutes now. One heavy storm in Franklin County has some heavy rain and frequent lightning, and it could kick up a wind gust to around 40 MPH.

The disturbance assisting the developing storms will slowly move south through Central Alabama tonight and tomorrow, so a few scattered storms will likely rumble on through the late evening hours (even after midnight in a few spots). It will not rain everywhere!

One or two storms could be strong or severe; the Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of north and east Alabama in a *SLIGHT* risk for the rest of the night. The threat here is for an isolated strong wind gust or some pockets of larger hail within the strongest storms. It will not be a widespread episode.
