I am technically taking a few days off… but I couldn’t help but to peek at the mid-morning radar view…
Sure looks like a pretty good part of North Alabama won’t get out of the 80s today thanks to the clouds, showers, and storms.
After the big thunderstorm complex last night and this morning, it is just another reminder of how clueless we are, in many cases, regarding summer convection. Humility is missing from our science.
Whatever… I am thankful for the “cool” August day in Alabama!

The upper-level ridge to our west and surface high pressure to our east keep Alabama mild and dry again today. The ridge will move eastward throughout the week allowing for a slowing warming trend to occur, but rain will stay out of the forecast. Continue reading

An upper-level ridge to our west and surface high pressure to the northeast will keep Alabama dry and slightly cooler this weekend. As we head into the week, the ridge will spread further into the state, warming us some and keeping rain chances at bay. Continue reading
