Take a look at surface observations at 1 pm in the Ozarks and surrounding areas…
At 1 pm, it was 69 degrees in UNO (West Plains Airport), while only about 100 miles NW of there, it was 29 degrees at Springfield, MO. The temperature dropped from 64 degrees at 10 am, to 40 degrees at 11 am. They now have 24 degrees (at 2 pm), with winds gusting to 40 mph, and wind chills dropping into the single digits at times.
How about Omaha, Nebraska, where it reached 56 degrees yesterday, but is currently at 7 degrees with a wind chill well below zero. The coldest temperature I could find in the continental U.S. at 2 pm was -22 at Lima, SD. But, it’s below -50 degrees at a few stations in Alaska this afternoon.
Will the cold air in Missouri come in here? Yes. Tonight, after a few evening showers and maybe a thunderstorm, temperatures will drop from near 60 at 10 pm to the upper 20s by tomorrow morning, so be ready.
