This will probably be our last update for tonight. Cold air continues to pour into the area and all the precipitation has ednded. The only exception is some lingering light rain around Dothan, in the SE corner of the state.
Winds continue to slowly weaken although still gusty in most areas.Down in South Alabama, gusts still were around 30 mph at 1 am.
The wind chill has dropped into the teens over NW Alabama and temperatures were as low as 28 at Haleyville.
We will have more information later today about the extent of the wind damage from the high winds. This was a notable event. It is rare to have probably thousands of trees uprooted with no thunderstorms to blame.
I sure would like to know how many trees were uprooted Tuesday afternoon and tonight all the way from Alabama to well north of the Ohio River. If you know, please let me know.
Headed for a bit of shuteye. will be up again not long after 5 am due to my automatic, built-in, biological alarm clock. It works flawlessly, unfortunately.
Life goes on but sometimes it drags along……
