No “real” showers around Alabama at noon. However, there were areas of low clouds, light drizzle and fog. Ceilings are very low:
500 feet at Birmingham Airport
900 feet, Huntsville
200 feet Gadsden
This means that ridges around these areas are in the clouds.
I just finished a round trip from Trussville to Pinson via Deerfoot Parkway and Doug Hollow Road, Both the main ridges you cross on Deerfoot were in the clouds, enshrouded with low clouds, fog and drizzle. Visibility on the ridges about 1/4 mile.
Temperatures are mild. Late morning:
63 in Birmingham
74 Montgomery
72 Memphis and Tupelo
77 across South Louisiana
72 to 75 Central Arkansas
Scroll down to see earlier discussions on severe weather potential. Here in Alabama, main time window for that will be Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. For Greater Birmingham area, it could be late in the day or even at night.
Storm Prediction Center, in their latest update, still has part of NW and West Alabama in a moderate risk for tomorrow and tomorrow night.
A much clearer picture available very early tomorrow. Besides the moderate risk, the rest of the state was in a slight risk.
