There is no video this morning due to the upcoming Storm Alert Xtreme at the BJCC from 9 am to 3 pm. The annual storm spotter training will cover a lot of information about storms and the visual clues that are often present during tornado formation. Hope to see you there.
Sorry about the lack of video this morning, but there is only so much time to get things done. It should be another gorgeous Fall day for Central Alabama after a rather chilly start though not quite as cold as yesterday morning. But with a good supply of sun, we should see afternoon highs reach the upper 60s.
We’re likely to see a mix of clouds and sun on Sunday but temperatures continue to moderate with afternoon highs climbing to near 70. But there are some changes coming once again as an upper level storm system moves out of the Rockies on Tuesday. While this system does not exhibit a high degree of depth, the trough should drag a front through our area with the greatest rain threat coming on Tuesday. Rainfall amounts could reach near 1 inch in some locations with one half to three quarters of an inch for most of us.
The upper level trough zooms on out as surface high pressure drops into the Ohio River Valley on Wednesday. The air will be cool with this front but not tremendously cold as the upper flow goes nearly zonal for us. So look for highs in the lower and mid 60s with morning lows in the lower 40s. And that’s how we end the week with another round of dry weather with some clouds as our upper flow turns around to the southwest.
Looking way out into voodoo country, the GFS is promising mostly mild weather with a substantial ridge over the eastern US. Another substantial front could affect us around the 26th with potential for some good rain, but this one does not look especially cold either.

I hope to have a chance to say hello to many of the Blog watchers at the Storm Alert Xtreme. It is always good to see weather enthusiasts getting together to hone their skills on severe storm spotting. Plus you can get into the International Car Show for free after the spotter training – what a deal! I do expect to have the regular Weather Xtreme Video tomorow morning by 8 am or so. Godspeed.
