A line of strong storms, containing lightning and very heavy rainfall, are moving into Birmingham. The storms at 520 pm were located from Dora to Ensley to Hoover, moving NE. They will be moving across downtown, I-65 from Warrior all the way to Shelby county, and into the eastern and southern suburbs during the next 15-30 minutes. Rain rates up to 2″ per hour are occuring for a little while with these storms.
If you are still at work in the BHM area, you might want to wait a little while to leave, until the storms have passed through, as driving will be very difficult.
