North Alabama continues to get the strongest showers and thunderstorms this morning. In fact, the main ones are in sort of a broad zone extending from NE Tuscaloosa County along the Walker/Jefferson County line into NE Alabama. There is considerable lightning in those areas. However, showers also are fairly numerous down the east side of the state from Gadsden and Anniston all the way down to Troy. Everything is moving ENE.
Almost all of Alabama except the extreme south is outlooked for a slight risk of severe weather, mainly this afternoon and tonight. We can fine tune those prospects later when all of the new data comes in.
From our ABC 33/40 skywatchers, significant lightning occurred in SW Lamar County around 9:00 a.m. Small hail was reported at Reform in Pickens County at 8:50 a.m. Harpersville was reporting thunder and lightning with a good rain at 9:03 a.m. and there was heavy rain and some thunder in Westover at 9:06.
