Late this morning, most of the showers and thunderstorms had shifted over into East Alabama.

At 11:25 a.m., the heaviest showers and storms extended from Rome in NW Georgia southwestward across East Alabama’s Cleburne, Talladega and Clay Counties. There is considerable lightning in all of those areas also and rain is locally heavy.

Other showers, rather numerous, were in the general vicinity of Montgomery, Phenix City, Auburn, Lafayette and Roanoke. All of the activity was moving generally toward the east.

Most of Alabama west of I-59 and I-20 was getting a break from the rain.

To the west of Alabama, most of MIssissippi, Louisiana and Arkansas had no showers late this morning except for a few small ones that have redeveloped over NE Mississippi.

Just because there is currently no action to the west, that does not mean that more storms will not form. We do expect more this afternoon and this evening and much of Alabama is still under an outlook by the Storm Prediction Center for a slight chance of severe weather.
