SPC is issuing a severe thunderstorm watch for north and central Alabama…details will be on the way from JB and Bill.
The stationary front is located somewhere between downtown Birmingham and Calera, as the dewpoint at BHM is 55, and at Shelby County Airport it is 61. This will provide a focus for continued severe storm development overnight. The air is fairly unstable just above the surface, but with cooler air at the surface, the main threat will be damaging wind and large hail. An isolated tornado can not be ruled out, as we saw earlier tonight in Atlanta.
