This is going to be one of those mornings when severe weather erupts rapidly into Alabama due to intense thunderstorms moving eastward from Mississippi.
At 1:00 a.m., a line of intense thunderstorms was over NE and East/Central Mississippi moving steadily eastward. The storms will be moving into some NW Alabama counties and also in West/Central Alabama as far south as Pickens and Tuscaloosa Counties. Some of the stronger storms at 1:00 a.m. were in the vicinity of Columbus and Starkville, Mississippi and poised to move into West Alabama. Don’t be surprised to see a tornado warning at almost any time for some of the West Alabama counties.
This is going to be a rapidly developing severe weather event as the morning goes on. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued that goes until 8:00 this morning for a large number of Alabama counties.
