A broad band of showers and thunderstorms continued to move eastward across Alabama this morning.

At 9:30 am most of the action was in a wide band extending generally from Huntsville and Scottsboro in NE Alabama down through Central and SW Alabama.

Good bit of lightning involved in many areas especially in Central and SW Alabama.

Only warning so far was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Wilcox and Dallas County until 9:45.

Mike Wilhelm, 3340 Skywatcher for Vinemont, in North Cullman County reports 1.22 inches of rain so far.

It is very windy especially on the ridges. South winds may gust as high as 50 mph even without the help of thunderstorms.

The main line of showers and thunderstorms has moved far enough east that many West Alabama counties were getting a break from the rain. In fact, the sun was breaking through over South Lamar County.

We are not out of the woods yet. A cold front is still to come through. It was over North Mississippi. Outside chance that it could trigger a warning as it moves across North and Central Alabama later.

LATE INFORMATION
NWS/Birmingham has issued a Special Weather Statement (Significant Weather Alert) for Autauga and Chilton County until 10:15. This is short of a warning…
