All of Alabama is under a risk of severe weather today and tonight. So far it is rated as a slight risk. I don’t really like the word “slight” in regards to severe weather. It is not to be dismissed as little danger.
I wish the SPC would just say “risk” and then add the terms “moderate” and “high risk” as needed. That will probably never happen.
At 8:25, the main line of thunderstorms was across Extreme NW Alabama and extending westward across North Mississippi and South Arkansas into NW Louisiana and East Texas. No recent Tornado Warnings.
DATELINE LITTLE ROCK: Arkansas has had a terrible time with severe weather off an on for weeks. Including flash floods, major river flooding, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. Lots of damage last night including several tornadoes. One moved directly across the North Little Rock Airport with overturned planes and building close to the NWS office damaged.
