Late this afternoon, showers had spread into NW Alabama. Just before 5:00 there were moderate showers in Marion County.
However, by far the main showers and thunderstorms were in an almost due north-south liine across West Mississippi into SE Louisiana. Some of the stronger storms were getting into Central Mississippi.
NWS/Jackson has issued several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings already. They also issued a Flash Flood Warning for Hinds, Madison and Rankin Counties in Central Mississippi until 6:30. This includes places like Jackson, Madison and Brandon.
Storms may dump 1-2 inches of rain in those areas.
A Tornado Watch continues until 10:00 tonight for 22 counties in Central and South Mississippi (roughly the south half of the state) and also for SE Louisiana.
We will continue to watch closely as the stronger storms move toward Alabama later this evening and overnight. We believe that the storms will weaken before reaching Central Alabama.
