What a difference a day makes! Nice to get that rain yesterday morning and still have a very nice afternoon. But no storms today – just a cool start leading into a sunny and mild afternoon with a high around the mid 70s. I could go for this kind of weather for many, many days!
Looks like the weather through mid week will be uneventful with a slow warm up. Cool mornings Monday and Tuesday before lows get into lower 50s by Wednesday.
Next chance for rain seems to be shaping up for Thursday and early Friday with a weakening short wave ejecting out of the lower Rockies. This should generate a surface low that will move across between the Tennessee and Ohio River Valleys and drag a weak front through the area. This system does not look as strong as the one we saw yesterday, so I don’t expect any severe weather for us. But it deserves watching to see how it eventually evolves.
After that system, the weather should clear out for the weekend. The GFS is hinting at draping the front across the area allowing the possibility of scattered showers. This is might happen but certainly would not be an all day rain and it does verge on voodoo country.
Looking further down range, looks like a potent system could be shaping up for May 15-16 with what the GFS shows as a very strong upper system with a good surface low moving across the Mid-South. That is followed by what could be another nice spring-ish period of weather. But it is a long way out and I’m certain we’ll see changes as we’ve seen been yesterday and today.
Thanks for tuning into the Weather Xtreme Video. James Spann should be back in the saddle with the next edition of the Video by 7 am Monday morning. I hope you have a great Sunday and have a chance to enjoy the fabulous weather. God bless.
