Because of brisk SW winds, the National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Lake Wind Advisory until 7:00 this evening. The Advisory covers North/Central Alabama down into parts of South Alabama as far south as Demopolis, Selma, Ft. Deposit, Wetumpka, Opelika, Union Springs, Eufaula, Troy and Phenix City to name a few. Winds may gust around 25 mph or even higher through most of the afternoon, meaning caution should be exercised if boating on area lakes. Those winds can cause rough chop.

Also, the Storm Prediction Center continues that Slight Risk of severe weather across North/Central Alabama this afternoon. Dew points have climbed into the mid 60s over most of Alabama and a cold front (really a cool front) was pushing into the NW corner of the state. Atmospheric conditions will be favorable enough for a few isolated strong to severe storms to form near and in advance of the front. However, it appears the better chance in Alabama will be east of I-65 and even there not a significant threat. The strongest storms will be east of Alabama, especially over the Eastern Carolinas.

At 1:30 this afternoon, virtually nothing was going on.
